Your Essential Pre-Lesson Guide
This pre-flight checklist will help you make the most of your upcoming eFoil lesson:
TIMING: Our lessons feature 30 minutes of on-shore training and an exhilarating 60-minute session on the water. Each person will have their own board to ride, unless you’ve scheduled an eFoil party or there are unforeseen circumstances.
EXPECTATION: While learning to eFoil varies for each individual, some get the hang of it within their first lesson, and others need a couple of sessions. Most riders will have fun right away, whether or not they are comfortably foiling. You will start practicing eFoiling on your stomach, then progress to your knees and then feet. Plan to get wet, and plan to fall multiple times. We will teach you how to fall safely. We’re excited to help you discover the thrill and freedom of soaring above the water on an eFoil!
RESTRICTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum age is 12.
- Ages under 18 must have an adult guardian present at all times.
- Maximum rider weight is 250 pounds.
- Participants are not allowed to use the eFoil boards if they have consumed any alcohol within 24 hours or are otherwise impaired. (Being under the influence and operating any motorize vessel is a severe violation of state and federal law.)
- Please ensure you are healthy and well. Please, no open sores. Please, no recent shoulder, hip, knee, back, or neck injuries. If you have questions on your ability to eFoil, check with your doctor first.
- Our fees do not include state park entrance fees. Our lesson locations are inside state park fee areas. Bring a state park pass, or prepare to pay a daily entrance fee of $20.
YOUR BOOKING: Double-check that you’ve received a confirmation email or text from us, including the accurate date, time, and quantity of people booked in your party. If you haven’t, please reach out to us to confirm.

KNOW THE LESSON LOCATION:
Our Salt Lake City/Park City Lesson Location: We are 50 minutes from Salt Lake City, 30 minutes from Provo, and 30 minutes from Park City. You’ll want to be on time and ready to go at the start of your lesson time. Ensure you know where you’re going in advance of your lesson. The lesson location is at Rainbow Bay, Deer Creek Reservoir in Heber City, UT. Look for Mile Marker 22 off of Hwy 189. You’ll also spot tall ziplines at the state park entrance. Our Lake Powell Lesson Location: We meet at the State Line Boat Ramp, near mile marker 15 off of Hwy 89. We are 8.5 Miles North of Page, AZ, and about 13 Miles South of Big Water, UT. The ramp is slightly North of the UT/AZ border, but the exit off of Hwy 89 is slightly south of the UT/AZ border. Your appointment time is AZ time (even though you’re technically in UT). You’ll want to be on time and ready to go at the start of your lesson time. Ensure you know where you’re going in advance of your lesson. WATCH THE WEATHER: We will be watching for weather and wind incidents. But it helps if you’re watching, too. If poor weather or high wind is predicted during your lesson time, please be flexible. Sometimes poor weather creeps up quickly and unexpectedly. Your safety is our first priority, and weather delays can happen at any time– even if you’re already on your way or arrived at the training location. We may need to push your lesson time 20 minutes later, or even a couple of hours later. We may even need to completely reschedule your lesson for another day. If WE cancel or cut a lesson short due to weather, we will offer to reschedule your lesson. If there is light rain with no lightening and no high wind anticipated, we may still get out and play. If you do not show up, and we have not cancelled your lesson, you may be ineligible for a refund.
WETSUITS or RASHGUARD/ SWIM SHIRT: If you have your own full wetsuit, we encourage you to bring it. We do provide (at no charge) 4/3mm wetsuits in traditional sizes, but we cannot guarantee a perfect fit. Wetsuits help protect knees and elbows from rubbing raw while learning. At the very least, we do recommend you wear a rashguard or swim shirt to protect your elbows from rubbing. First time flyers spend a lot of time on elbows and knees, and sometimes they can feel raw after a while when practicing mounting an eFoil.

ALGAE BLOOMS: Our access to Deer Creek Reservoir is occasionally impacted by algae blooms. You can check current water conditions here: Utah Department of Environmental Quality. If you are sensitive to algae blooms or have open sores or cuts, we recommend you cancel your appointment. We are not liable for illness due to algae bloom.
PACK THESE ITEMS: We will have your equipment, but you may want to bring:
- water
- sunscreen
- towel
- swimsuit
- sunglass strap if you want to wear sunglasses on the water
- long sleeve rashguard/ shirt (to protect elbows from rubbing raw)
- wetsuit if you have one
- water shoes or flip flops. You’ll wade into the water a few feet with your shoes, and then throw your shoes back to the shoreline
- a bag or backpack to keep your things in
- a FRIEND! eFoiling is fun in and of itself. Adding friends to your lesson makes it double the fun!
VALUABLE ITEMS: If you like your wedding ring or expensive earrings and watches, leave those home. eFoiling is an adventure sport, and you will fall. Many times. On rare occasions, you may even fall hard. Just sayin. While we do try to keep watch over your items left onshore, we cannot be held responsible for your items. Valuables like phones may best be left with a non-rider or locked in a car.
GROUP SESSION: You can add friends to your eFoil lesson up to the day of your lesson. Up to 4 people can be part of one group lesson.
WATCH THE TRAINING VIDEOS: Maximize your time on the water by watching the training videos below beforehand. They cover essential pointers you’ll want to know before hitting the water.
CAPTURE THE ACTION You have a few options to capture the action: 1) Bring your own waterproof action camera to record your eFoil experience. Our boards and helmets are compatible with various GoPro and Insta360 mounts, ensuring you won’t miss a single exciting moment. You must bring your own mounts for your cameras. 2) The ‘Gram. We snap a killer Insta’ action shot foooorrr Freeeeee. Your coach will snap a pic or two of you crushing it on the water, and share it with you at the end of your lesson. We typically just Airdrop these to you immediately at the end of your lesson. 3) The Final Cut: $60. We’ll bring out our tripped up Insta360 camera and video you crushing it up close and personal. Then, we handle the post-production! We’ll create a one-minute edited video of your best moments, complete with music, titles and transitions. (You’ll get the rough cuts, too.) Allow 48 business hours for the Final Cut.
